Travel Globe

Cane with a silver-plated metal handle decorated with the monogram “L L”. The handle unscrews to reveal a compartment in the shaft, containing a linen globe mounted on a frame of jointed darkened brass ribs, with a hanging ring at the top.

Shaft is made of stained wood. John Betts (inscription on the globe: “Betts’s New portable terrestrial globe, compiled from the latest and best authorities”), London, ca. 1860.
