Kiko Lopez was born in Puerto Rico in 1962. He grew up in the United States and studied architecture and industrial design at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design, where he created his first blown-glass pieces. In 1990, he and his wife settled in Bonnieux in Provence and he opened his own workshop, where he devoted himself to making glass, crystal, and pâte de verre (decorative sintered glass) creations. At that time, he was working for Cristallerie Saint-Louis. He uses ancient techniques gleaned from master craftsmen all over the world. For over twenty years he has been making lights, objects, folding screens, glass walls, and monumental installations that bring together crystal, glass, and light for private clients and furniture companies.
