Eckhard Beger was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1962. After studying mechanical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and obtaining an MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau France, he worked in the fine watch making and medical technology sectors.
At the same time, he cultivated his passion for music, photography, architecture and design. He developed a particular interest in the understated style of modernism as well as in postmodern architecture.
His fascination for the harmony of forms led him to design art furniture, an area to which he decided to devote himself exclusively form 2010. Self-taught, he explored the esthetic influence of lines, curves as well as organic shapes on the three-dimensional bodies of his creations. Furthermore, he attaches great importance to the quality of the materials as well as the finishes (veneers, marquetry, patinas), which, for him, on a microscopic level reveal a world apart. The manufacturing of his creations requires the know-how of master craftsmen as well as modern manufacturing technologies (5-axis numeric machines)
Eckhard Beger’s creations were exhibited at the Poldi Pezzoli museum in Milan Italy as part of the exhibition “Almost secret”, at “Venice Design” at Palazzo Michiel in 2016 and 2017 in the context architecture and art biennale, at PAD and at Artgenève.
